• Gates, fencing and other structures should be maintained so they do not fall.

• When carrying out any maintenance or repairs on heavy objects such as gates, ensure that they are appropriately supported or restrained.

• Maintenance and repair activities should be suitably planned and risks appropriately managed.

• Ensure that maintenance is carried out by someone who has the necessary training, skills, knowledge and experience to carry out the work safely.

• Ensure that maintenance work on equipment is carried out in a safe place away from vehicle routes and other potential hazards.
